Our Chairs: Made in the UK by the Very Best

by | Blog

Here at Stuart Mobility we supply, deliver and install mobility chairs.  But we don’t manufacture them.  We have a number of trade manufacturers whose chairs we sell to our customers.  So, how do we choose those manufacturers?  Well, the answer to that question is – very carefully!

Firstly, we’re a family business and supporting other family businesses is very important to us.  There’s something really special about being able to deal directly with the people who created and built up the business.  There’s so much more care, attention and passion for the product than you’d get from a large, faceless corporation.  Plus, we know we’re supporting the right people by giving them our trade!  Rather than lining shareholders’ pockets, we’re helping a family to pay their bills.

Secondly, quality is paramount.  The chairs we sell need to withstand daily use for many years and we need to guarantee to our customers that they’re up to the job!  We won’t sell anything that we haven’t tried and tested ourselves.  Only when we’re certain that their chairs meet our strict standards do we add them to our list of trusted manufacturers.  You won’t find shoddy goods at Stuart Mobility; we can assure you of that!

Thirdly, our manufacturers have to be reliable.  When you place that order, you want it to be delivered exactly when we say it will.  So, we choose manufacturers who are true to their word and make top quality chairs on time, every time.

And finally, we choose manufacturers who are at the cutting edge of technology.  The chairs that we supply offer our customers the latest advancements to aid comfort, mobility and independence with easy-to-use controls and functional adjustability to support their needs.

We’re proud to supply chairs from the following UK manufacturers:

Repose is our main supplier, who’ve been with us from the very start.  A dedicated, specialist seating manufacturer they have been building riser recliners in the UK for over 30 years, in their factory based in the West Midlands.  Originally a family business, Repose was bought out last year by Prism but still retain their family ethics; little has changed, with the same staff and the same Managing Director still in charge.  Though ownership now differs, their fantastic reputation and high production standards remain exactly the same as ever.

The Boston Porter chair and Boston Porter Express are superb examples of the high quality, durable seating that Repose design and build.  Offering ‘tilt in space’, pressure management and breathable, wipeable fabrics these chairs are as practical as they are comfortable.  They are perfect for healthcare settings.

Sitting Pretty

This family-run business based in South Normanton, Derbyshire, manufactures chairs that, in their own words, are ‘truly uplifting’!  They don’t believe that limited mobility should limit your lifestyle, so their chairs are designed to help you to live the way you want to, giving you a ‘much needed lift’ when you need it.  Again, this company was bought out last year by Pride but only the ownership has altered, the original family still run the business and their ethics, service and high standards – the things that attracted us in the first place – remain the same as ever.

One of their most popular models is the Dorchester 4 motor lift chair which features lumbar and powered headrest, an extending footrest, USB charger and comes with a choice of 3 back styles, 4 size and a range of fabrics including Shelly leather.

There’s also the option of a sumptuous and deeply comfortable matching Dorchester sofa, which comes as a 2- or 3-seater, with electric reclining as an optional extra.

Based in Wales, this father and son run business is built upon a drive to provide innovative products that will add real value to customers’ lives.   Their products are hand-made by their experienced and skilled team, with exceptional attention to detail.

Their Symphony chair provides adaptability over time, with multiple back options, various cushion inserts and removeable seat cushions, so it’s perfect for those with changing needs.  It offers posture and pressure care, and rises to aid the user gently to a standing position.  Choose from single or dual motor or tilt in space, left or right-handed controls, and a range of fabrics.

Cosi Chair

Cosi Chair is an American company, but based in Britain with manufacturing in the UK.  They manufacture a great range of riser recliners and mobility chairs and are well-known for their superb design and quality.

The Cosi Chair Jubilee is one of our best-sellers, with an appealing stylish design adding to its practical features such as dual-motor high leg lift and tilt in space.  With a choice of back styles and a sprung seat, it’s a very comfortable chair that won’t look out of place in your living room – especially when teamed with a matching, sumptuous Jubilee sofa.
